SPERI has conducted case studies in different communities of ethnic minorities in Quang Binh province such as the Ma Lieng in Lam Hoa and Thanh Hoa communes, Kinh (Vietnamese) in Hoa Son, Hoa Phuc, Ngu Hoa, Cao Quang and Kim Hoa communes in Tuyen Hoa district, the Khua, Ruc, Sach and Kinh ethnic minorities in Dan Hoa, Thuong Hoa communes in Minh Hoa district, Kinh in Lam Trach, Xuan Trach, Arem and Ma Coong ethnic minorities in Thuong Trach commune, Bo Trach district.
Since 2000, SPERI has conducted case studies in 11 villages of the Black Thai in Hanh Dich commune and neighboring locations in Que Phong district.
Since 2003, SPERI has conducted case studies in Huong Son district, Ha Tinh province through its Human Ecology Practice Area (HEPA), Farmer's Field School (FFS) and Truong Son Forestry Collective.
