Abstract:
This document includes knowledge and telling stories from elders, prestigious peoples and representatives of community based organizations in Ban Thapene village. The study was conducted during the course from 2014 to 2016 through on-going field records of SPERI’s staffs in collaboration with CHESH Lao program, Luang Prabang Provincial Department of Agriculture and Forestry Office (PAFO), Agriculture and Forestry Offices of Xiang Nguen, Luang Prabang and Muong Nan districts. The findings show that ethnic groups in Ban Thapene still maintain well their cultural identity, traditional practices and natural resources even though the increasing impacts from the tourisms. The study furthure give strong recommendation for local authorities to recognize these values and legitimize rights for Ban Thapene communitity to manage its traditional natural resources in collaboration with other relevant stakeholders.
