Since 1994, SPERI has implemented pilot projects and case studies aiming at supporting the development of indigenous ethnic minority communities in the watershed areas of Vietnam and Laos. In the same time, SPERI has promoted linkages and networks among key farmers, grassroots civil society organizations, research and educational institutions, progressive local and central authorities in the Mekong sub-great rgion such as Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, Thailand and Myanmar. As a result, the Mekong Ethnic Minority Networking and Ecological Trading (MECO-ECOTRA) appeared since 2006.
