Since 2001, SPERI has conducted case studies in communities of the Hmong, Lao Lum and Kho Mu ethnic minorities in Den Xa Vang village in interaction with other 11 villages in Phu Sung watershed area of Luang Prabang district.

The primary concerns of case studies relate to customary law in NRM, customary law based forest and land conflict resolutions, community rights to forestland, cultural identity preservation, cultural identity based community development, traditional civil society promotion via community based organization and institutions, key farmer's networking and ethnic minority youth empowerment.

Above case studies are supported by ICCO - the Netherlands and Bread for the World (Brot).
