During the period from 1994 to 2001, SPERI has conducted case studies in seven villages of the Xinh Mun ethnic in Phieng Khoai commune, Tai Dam ethnic in Chieng Dong commune and Hmong ethnic in Yen Chau district, Son La province.

The primary concerns of the case studies were women empowerment throught their security of forestland rights and decision making in family as well as community, community rights to forestland, sustainable slopping land farming, cultural identity preservation, herbal medicine wisdom in community health care, traditional handicraft textile and saving-credit towards micro-community based enterprises.


The above case studies were supported by  IWDA - Australia, the Dutch Embassy to Vietnam and ICCO - the Netherlands.
